About Osteopathy at Barwon Osteopathy and Pilates

Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine applying a hands on approach to the treatment of the musculoskeletal system.

Established in 1998 by Dr Lisa Smyth, Barwon Osteopathic Clinic has provided treatment to patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly, for a variety of problems affecting the muscles, joints and ligaments.  A change of name to Barwon Osteopathy and Pilates in 2015 has coincided with the introduction of a new modern Pilates studio at the clinic.  The clinic however continues to provide the same quality individual osteopathic care it has built its reputation on for the previous 17 years.

Osteopathic treatment is hands on.  Each treatment lasts approximately 30-40 minutes and is one on one with the practitioner.

Techniques including soft tissue therapy, joint articulation, gentle joint mobilisation and cranial based osteopathy are used to free the body of restrictions, improve mobility, reduce pain and improve posture.

All of our osteopaths are registered with AHPRA and therefore osteopathic treatment can be claimed through your private health insurer if you have appropriate ancillary cover.

With HICAPS located on site, we can complete your claim at the clinic so you only have to pay the out of pocket expense.

We also accept patients under DVA, WorkSafe, TAC and Chronic Health Treatment Plans(EPC).
